Nazira KaraI have always been a person with a zest for life and a passion for people. With my head being driven by the fascination of people and human behaviour and my heart being driven by the need to give back in some way, I decided to study Psychology. I majored in Psychology and South African Sign Language taking up two of my passions, people and language. I am currently doing my Honours in Psychology and wish to further my knowledge in this arena. With a particular interest in the South African Deaf community, I wish to contribute to the research that is available. I would like to engage further with the Deaf community and help in creating awareness and possibility of a fully inclusive society.
I feel an urge to add a meaningful contribution to society and to the lives of those around me. I wish to extend myself to others and be open to others extending themselves towards me. If it had not been for Umama wo thando trust I would not have been able to further my studies this year and continue on to my journey in giving back and adding value to our beautiful country and it’s beautiful people. . Umama wo thando has made this journey less stressful for me and have acted as a financial and emotional support system. I am now privileged enough to be able to take on this opportunity, further my knowledge and expand my experience. |
