Whilst it has been frustrating in 2015; awaiting the winding up of Mrs Hardebeck's estate this has also been a period of reflection and discussion; to sustain the Trust; to deepen the impact. UWT will re-launch the new intake in 2016; with an auction of Mrs Hardebeck's prized paintings, furniture and jewellery which she has bequeathed to the Trust. This auction will provide much needed cash flow into the Trust but also serve to introduce the impact of this work to new partners and old friends. Watch this space to see how you can be a part of a very impactful programme, proved over the last 6 years in and through our graduates.
The first auction of Mrs Hardebeck's artefacts was on the 10th October 2016 in Cape town. The below insert is a TV interview from the night of the auction the 7th of November 2016.

Dear Umama Wothando Family
It is with deep sadness that we heard of Mrs Hardebeck’s passing on Friday 15th August 2014.
As you all know she has been ill for a long time and this was not unexpected; and yet the role she has played in all of our lives is one which leaves us with a sense of deep loss.
Mrs Hardebeck’s personal funds, as you know, is the bedrock upon which Umama Wothando Trust is built. Her sense of community and generosity has allowed us to fund your individual studies over the last 5 years. It has also allowed us to provide the kind of support which we hope has been beneficial to you; over and above the financial gift. The UWT support will continue as part of Mrs Hardebeck’s wishes.
We are very aware of the family Mrs Hardebeck has created through this Trust and what she has meant to all of us.

WE CELEBRATED THANDWA AND EDWIN'S UNION
We were blessed to celebrate the wedding of 2 UWT recipients this past Saturday. In typical Thandwa style each detail was stylishly constructed; each moment a loud celebration of love and laughter.
Charmaine was asked to make a speech about Thandwa's journey with the UWtrust; spanning 6 years. An honest speech about challenges and overcoming them; hardships and resilience; as well as victory and celebrations.
Edwin; who was in Thandwa's class; sang to her whilst the crowd cheered him on.This was truly a memorable experience. We, at UWT, wish Thandwa and Edwin every blessing as they begin their life together as man and wife.
